A wander round Tavistock Abbey - 24th May
Saturday 24 May 2025
Walk commences at 2pm from the Visitor Information Centre in Guildhall Square Tavistock, England, PL19 0AE
1:00 pm

Described by some historians as the wealthiest abbey in the Southwest, Tavistock Abbey acted as a religious and administrative centre to the region for some 578 years. Its links to the monarchy gave its abbots powers which were not always well used and its unusual layout has yet to be fully understood. This walk, with Sue Spackman, explores the abbey's remains and what we know about its history. A flat walk of approx 90 minutes covering less than 1 mile in length in the heart of Tavistock town.
